Last days of summer

Yesterday was a picture perfect summer day so we decided to take full advantage!

Scraps and I headed out early for a hike. The plan was to avoid the heat but as you can see from his tongue we were not successful in that aspect.

We hiked up a closed road on some BLM land near our house. The road is used to maintain the tall power-line towers. It was pretty steep (I am feeling it my legs today) but the view from the higher elevation is pretty cool.

We passed through some nice lush woods on the way to the top. One of my favorite plants in OR is the fern. These babies get HUGE out here! Here is a picture of Scraps next to one to give you some perspective on size. This was not one of the larger ones, rather one we could reach without falling down the ravine.

While we were gone Nick cleaned the barn in preparation for painting. He also made more progress on finishing up the trim and awning for the window we recently put in. (pics to come). I tackled mowing the dandelions in the front and back of the house, then it was time to head to Timothy Lake.

Nick recently found some waders at Goodwill and needed to test them out. Good news - they worked great! Lookout winter steelhead.

The sunset was gorgeous and with hardly anyone on the lake we got some cool shots:
