Baby Showers Bring...

I had a wonderful baby shower yesterday from Piper hosted by the wonderful ladies I work with.  There was soooo much food, gorgeous decorations and hopefully a great time had by all.

A friend made this gorgeous sign that greeted everyone and can be hung in Piper's room:
The dessert spread and amazing diaper cake:
Lots of hanging out:

And of course a game!
Piper got tons of adorable and very useful goodies:
Again, thank you thank you to everyone who put in so much hard work and gave me such a wonderful shower.  I am a very lucky lady!

Amusing Time

Every year my company has a summer picnic and this year it was at Oak's Park.  We went there two years ago and it was fun but Gunnar was really too small for anything but the carousel.  This year was a totally different story!!

G rode all the kiddie rides at least twice and thanks to some loving co-workers even made it on some of the bigger rides.  It was a long hot day with no nap and he was a super trooper the entire time.  This very well may be the last just mom mom and G outing we get to have like this so it was extra special for me.

Some pics of the festivities:

If The Boat Floats....

Because Nick is a complete glutton for punishment he took G and on on the maiden voyage of his Metzler inflatable boat today on Timothy Lake.

To be sure Gunnar would be completely over the moon Nick bought him an Iron Man fishing rod/reel combo on Friday.  He has been practicing casting/chasing the animals with it non stop.

I may have mentioned this before but this picture will actually do justice to just how much my trunk can hold.  It is huge!!  Here is the boat, boat seats, trolling motor, pumps and pfds all in the trunk of my Jetta ready to roll:
Here is the boat coming to life:
Again, that was in my trunk!

Then we hit the water to do a little fishing:

Meet Captain Jack:
His favorite move is the "loopty loop" so it was a short lived stint at the helm for him.

Considering I am hugely pregnant and it was approaching nap time I think everyone did awfully well.  We didn't catch anything but did get one bug bite and fun was had by all.

The aftermath of happiness:

Ready, Set Baby!

Despite needing to hoard all my vacation time at work I splurged and took Friday off this week to give me a super long Holiday weekend.  It has been wonderful beyond words!!

On Friday Nick and I dropped Gunnar off at daycare and then began our five hour baby shopping tour.  When you live in the boonies these things take time!  Nick was a super trooper and once I had gathered all the supplies he was then the brute labor to make Piper's nursery take shape.

We are giving Piper what was formally our much used, abused and neglected tv room/back guest room.

Here you have it in all it's unedited glory:

What you can't quite make out from the above pics is that there is a new window in that room!  Trim still needs to be done but Nick and his Dad did an amazing job tackling that on the 4th.  Goodbye 1950's original thin paned pain the butt windows, hello double paned beauties that actually open!!

And now the nursery:

In true second baby fashion there is no hand painted mural that took 40 hours to complete.  Those are wall decals and we love them.  I was able to sort through, organize and put away all the hand me down clothes - THANK YOU everyone who has donated!  I also was able to sort through G's room to put all his "baby" toys and books into Pip Pip's room (on the wonderful bookcases Nick lovingly put together for me).

Nick and I put G's old crib up yesterday and now I feel like, heaven forbid, she comes early we are in a much better spot.

Of course now the rest of the house is destroyed and filled with overstock furniture (let me know if anyone needs a coffee table or side chairs!).  My recliner/rocker should be ready in the next week or so and then we will be ready to rock.  Literally!!

This post brought to you by pregnancy hormones!

Crazy Cat

While the humans have been laying low to keep cool, our animals seem to have a different take on it.  Both Sandy and Truck seem to enjoy sunbathing in the heat of the day.  I snapped this crazy picture of Sandy all snuggled up against our rock border, fast asleep in the 90 degree heat.

Crazy Cat!

Summer Fun

It feels like summer is officially here in the Pacific Northwest and we are taking full advantage!  The "heat wave" hit end of last week so I made an extra stop on the way home Friday to get us a pool.  Nothing to do laps in but has been a ton of fun.

On Sunday we figured we would try and beat the Holiday crowds and go fishing at Timothy Lake.  Nothing was caught but it was a fun time for everyone and we got to be totally envious of all the awesome boats out on the lake.
