Spring Is In The Air

Yesterday was such a beautiful day that I decided to catch up on some of my yard work. I managed to dig up tons of weeds and dandelions, mulch the flower beds and plant a few flowers.

I am a huge believer in mulch. Just sprinkle a little and it looks like someone actually thought out the landscape!:

Nick has added a door to the greenhouse so I planted a few flowers and bulbs around it:

We also partitioned off the side yard to further restrict the farm critters while we attempt to reseed the pasture. Pics of that to come.

Farm Fun

Last weekend we sheared the goats again at our friends' farm. They have a really beautiful place and cooked us an amazing lunch! The current excitement on their farm are the baby goats. One mom had just give birth that morning:

And another finally had hers yesterday. So adorable! They have been kind enough to extend us a stud credit from one of their goats so maybe in the fall we will breed Dolly. She has the most beautiful fiber and is such a good mama.

Or friends also raise rabbits for fiber and here is one of their guys being sheared:

He was a really good sport!

At our farm the Spring prep is moving along nicely. One of my girlfriends at work this week received a dozen roses from her husband. Right after that I got a text of this:

And got to brag that my husband got me a whole greenhouse!

Warning!

7 plus months without a drink...this could be you. Enjoy!

Let The Brooding Begin!

Nick and I brought home 10 Cornish broilers today. They are very cute and we hope rather tasty!

Here they are in their cardboard box while we built their pen:

Here they are in their temporary home:

Nick did an amazing job of constructing their pen from items we had around. Not the prettiest thing ever but they don't seem to mind.

Luke has been oddly indifferent to them. We are pretty sure he is waiting for nightfall to launch his attack!

In Loving Memory

It has been a very rough couple of weeks while Nick and I had to struggle with a very difficult decision in our household. I do not want to go into any details but will let you know that Scraps is no longer with us.

He was a wonderful dog and definitely my best friend. He is very missed.

Sometimes being an adult really, really sucks.

Knicks Let Down

For Christmas I bought tickets to the Knicks - Blazers basketball game for 3/31. Nick and I love to support our NYC teams and thought it would be a great opportunity to see such a great team in action.

Boy were we disappointed! Apparently the Knicks were kidnapped in the parking lot and replaced by a band of b-string (yet very TALL) high school players. They were TERRIBLE!

Since we are now PDX transplants of sorts it was still a win win of sorts (the Blazers played amazingly) but definitely a let down.

Here was the highlight of the game where Nick and I got to play compare hands with the Blazers':
