Dinosaurs!

Nick's parents have been such an extra blessing in helping to entertain Gunnar as we adjust to life as a family of four.  Yesterday Piper and I both had doctor appointments so Gigi and Pop Pop took G on an adventure to the Portland Children's Museum to see their new dinosaur exhibit.

Feedback was that the dinosaur part was not really that amazing but it was better than being dragged around town to appointments and as always, the rest of the museum didn't disappoint!

T-Rex!

Pip Pip Hooray She s HERE!

Piper Alexandra London graced us with her presence Monday August 12th 2013 at 6:02pm.  She weighed in at 7lbs 3.5 ounces and 19 inches long.

Just when you think your heart could not possibly eek out any more love, you are proven wrong yet again.  She is a beautiful baby girl and I owe a huge thank you to my wonderful husband, amazing doula and the entire team of midwives at OHSU who helped me make this possible!

And now the pics!!!!

Me in Labor and Delivery Triage.  After being told I was not leaking amniotic fluid Sunday night I was a little in denial that this was really it.  I was driven to the hospital by a co-worker after thankfully deciding not to drive myself home to rest up as I was "not feeling right".  Contractions 2 mins apart upon check in.
Labor, Labor, Labor.  Here we are awaiting the arrival of Ms Pip Pip.  Her sack actually did not rupture until her shoulder exited which was cool for the observers apparently.  I was a bit busy.
Yep, those are tears of relief and joy.  After a last minute position change Piper literally came flying out by all eye witness accounts.  She was posterior (back against my back) so Nick says she actually spiraled out as she righted herself.
 Here she is!
 The first swaddle.
 Daddy!!!
We are boring the princess already.
 My babies!!!!
One day old snoozing in the bassinett.
Yay - the van family!  Nick couldn;t have timed his Vanaru conversion completion any better.  We are now back on the road in super (fast and smooth running) style.  Here we are heading to Gigi and Pop Pops.
Gotta love maternity leave and the much better take on the "morning meeting".
Gunnar has been amazing!  After a short lived rough patch he has stepped up and into the big brother role with no problems.  He now goes to sleep by himself.  All night, every night and nap.  So proud of him!  He is also super duper helpful for his family.  Here he is stacking all the kindling Nick cut for me (my fire making skills are less than superb).  It took him two days of work and he filled this ENTIRE wood holder for me.
Here in the last days of summer we have inherited a pool!  Our neighbor passed away the Sunday before Piper was born.  She loved this pool and G loved to share it with her.  It is now his.  He is stoked.  It is in the low 70s:)  We did get a couple good swims in though and are more than ready for the next hot day.
