What Gunnar is watching

I drive Nick crazy with my insistence that Gunnar not be allowed to watch any tv. Of course when you are alone all day with a toddler some days you have to do what you have to do. Nick kept telling me how much Gunnar likes to watch "Babies on Babies on tv". I had no idea what he was talking about so this morning I made him show me. It is the movie Babies and boy does Gunnar LOVE it!

The movie:

Gunnar enthralled:

Ready for take off

Gunnar is big into the swing me around games these days. He like to be swung up, swung down and all around. He just giggles and giggles which of course cracks us up to no end. As it is a wild ride it is hard to get a clear shot but here you can get an idea as Papa brings him in for a landing on the living room rug:

Inspiration

I must confess that I am terrible about being able to watch an entire movie without falling asleep on the couch 30 minutes in. I am really bad during the week but the weekend is usually no exception. Last night was a definite exception! I watched all of Julie & Julia and absolutely loved it. I enjoy cooking but have no time or energy to really indulge in it as a full blown passion so this movie was very inspiring. Both the love of cooking and the love of life were refreshing. If you are a netflixer like me be sure to add this to your queue if you haven't already!

Standing Tall

Now that Oregon has graced us with a couple (literally TWO) nice days I realized that Gunnar needs some shoes a little more substantial than his Robeez soft shoes if he is going to play outside. Thanks to Zappos I was able to try find a great pair of Mini Shoez that fit perfectly! The bottom is polyurethaned for a more durable sole. Here is Stinky breaking them in:

Happy Easter!

Hope you had a wonderful Easter! We skipped out on swimming to join friends for Easter. There was delicious food and more food and more food. Gunnar helped us to burn it all off by being his usual busy self! My girlfriend has a bi-level home and Gunnar really enjoyed climbing her carpeted stairs over and over to get to where the big kids were playing.

One warm up

We attended the first birthday party today for Gunnar's future ex-girlfriend Chella. Her parents went all out and we had a blast. Here are some pics of the festivities:

Please be advised that no turkeys were harmed in the crafting of this post

A week ago Nick went turkey hunting with some friends for a few days. It was Windy's first camping trip and minus a little engine oddity on the trip up did great. Nick said it was so awesome to be able to drive and be camp ready. He saw the tail end (literally) of one turkey as it flew away but that was it. He also saw some fairly large herds of deer and elk and then for the grand finale a BOB CAT. He said it sat for a long time just watching him and then wandered off when Nick's friend approached. Beautiful animals!

I took a day off so I was able to sit in on the most product early am meeting of the year captured here:

Latest Addition to the Herd

Meet Chucky the Chukar!

Nick's friend managed to trap this Chukar who was causing a nuisance in his neighborhood and relocate him to our farm. They really beautiful birds and quiet unless in danger. The chickens bully him so he has taken to roaming during the day and then returning to roost at our place in the evening. We will see if he stays.

Starfish

As an early birthday present I purchased swim lessons for Gunnar with the Parks & Recreation Department in Portland. This was his second lesson and he is doing so well! Nick was able to come with us today so there are some pics of all the fun:

The aftermath:

It is a bit hard to get him to keep a good sense of humor through 2 hours in the car and a 30 minute swim lesson but we all survived. Maybe we will have a real summer this year and he can put these skills to good use.
