Food and Friends

We spend a lot of time in the kitchen. Cooking, cleaning, rinse and repeat. Gunnar is an excellent assistant!

A couple weeks ago G's friend was over while we finished up knishes for diner. Both kiddos had a great time with the dough. Of course my picky eater couldn't keep the dough out of his mouth. Sandwich, no. Dirt, yes. Ugh that kid!

Here is G and me making up some biscuits this last weekend. He is an excellent roller:

Spring?!

I alluded to our late spring last posts. Well, March has really take the cake! Mt Hood got 10 feet of fresh powder last week. Crazy! After managing to make the commute to PDX all winter, I finally had to turn back and work from home. In MARCH!

All that sow did lend itself to some great play time though.

Under Construction

Oregon is again being stingy with her Spring so we are still battling the cooped up blues. Lately our indoor passion has been building.

Nick and I broke out our generic Jenga last weekend and Gunnar had a blast. Of course with such a handy papa how could it not be fun:

Then this week we got a set of XL building blocks from Grandma Darnelle. They too have been a hit:

Of course his favorite thing is to knock them all down as you start to build something! We did come up with setting them up and then having his excavator run into them and knock them all down.

FUN!

Hope you all in the rest of the country are enjoying your warm days. We will be sure to send you some of our snow! Actually, never mind as we don't want you hot humid summers.

The Main Attraction

I think we may be sensing a theme here with G and his love of mirrors. I took several shots of him playing with this compact but found his grin to be irresistible in this one.

Here is a close up after Nick was momentarily distracted while G was at the table with food and marker stuffs. He can go from neat to a complete mess in less than a blink of the eye:

Last but not least G loves to play with the lights. This afternoon he had taken a kitchen chair all the way into the hall to help him out:

Baby is asleep and Nick has fired up the latest Netflix of Walking Dead so I have to run. Good night all!

Birthday Recap

I can't believe how fast time is flying and how extremely busy I am! Finally getting around to my birthday post. My birthday was amazing!

Dinner at Olympic Provisions was amazing. We maxed them out with a party of 15 and they were wonderful. We have a four course meal with a meat mix and match appetizer plate, amazing beet and citrus salad, scallops, chicken, chorizo, pasta and to top it all off a champagne ice cream and chocolate cake for dessert. All of it was so amazing.

Nick's mom was kind enough to keep Gunnar for the night so we got to stay at the Avalon and it too was great. Due to availability we were upgraded to a room with a river view which was very nice.

You will think this very odd but these are the only two pictures I took of the night:

The beautiful flowers my brother and sister in law had delivered to the hotel:

And the view from our balcony:

I had my camera in my coat pocket but was so busy having such a great time that I never got it out. I think too many people spend too much time trying to document all the great things in their lives versus just enjoying it. I clearly just enjoyed it!
