Gigi bought Gunnar a little wide eyed, pink puppy dog toy his week at an estate sale which he has absolutely fallen in love with. Gunnar in all his four years has never slept with a stuffed animal and he sleeps with this one. He has aptly named her Pinkie and when it came time to carve his pumpkin today he designed a wide eyed "pinkie pumpkin" in her honor.
I must say, it turned out pretty good:

Color Me
Gunar has recently become more interested in coloring and with all his practice colors very well these days. Here are some shots of the artist at work:
He as also been an inspiration to his sister who in typical PipPip fashion has even taken it to he next level and enjoys coloring on her stomach as wel:
Mind you these little artists cannot be limited to one medium! Here they are painting up a storm as well. Their daddy put his BFA to work and provided them with Picasso videos for inspiration of course:

Glamping
Last weekend we did , we went camping as a family. And we survived! Barely, but we survived. A few weeks ago some friends from Seattle (via New York actually) invited us camping at Cape Disappointment in WA. Nick was actually supposed to be out of town the weekend it was scheduled, but I was feeling adventurous and said we'd go. Fast forward to last weekend when we discovered dates had gotten mixed up and the trip was on. So off we went.
We took the van and she did great. It was a bit warm with no AC and our Indian summer but again, we survived.
Or friends had reserved yurts so it was very much glamping but as I soon discovered, even glamping is rough with a 13 month old!
It was super hot but the beach was gorgeous and not too windy. Gunnar had so much fun! Pip Pip also had good time but the sand was a bit much a times.
Sleeping was the biggest challenge of the adventure (just ask the other 189 campsites!) but again, we survived.
There were lots of cool forts on the beach to play on:
Pip Pip practiced her yoga:
Discovered her love of corn on the cobb:
Amazing kite fun at sunset:
Pip Pip was contained but still had fun:
There was lots of amazing nature:
And the sunset just couldn't be beat:
We'll be back next year. Ad maybe even get some sleep!

Summer Fun
Each year my company hosts a summer family fun day at a venue around Portland. This year we lucked out that Ski Bowl resort in nearby Government Camp was the destination. Of course coming directly from our beach stay we still had the longest commute to get there!
My parents kept Piper so G got to have a special fun day all by himself. There was tons to do and we didn't miss a thing!
